HDRI Adopts New Statutes at Extraordinary General Assembly

Paris/Online 10 September 2026 - The Human Development Research Initiative (HDRI) is pleased to announce that, at its Extraordinary General Assembly held on 10 September 2026, its membership formally adopted HDRI's new Statutes, with 91.7% of the votes cast in favour, comfortably exceeding the two-thirds majority required for a decision of this significance.

This marks a genuine milestone in HDRI's institutional life: the first time our Statutes have been formally ratified directly by our membership, giving the Organisation a governance foundation built on the explicit consent of the people it serves.

What's new

The adopted Statutes introduce a sixth thematic pillar — Civic Space, Governance & Rule of Law — joining our existing work across Environment, Climate & Energy; Migration & Security; Global Health; Gender Equity; and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. They also strengthen our governance framework: clearer rights for every member, a more flexible Board structure, and stronger safeguards around leadership continuity.
