WHO WE ARE

HDRI's day-to-day work is organised into four Departments:

• Publications

• Secretariat

• Communications

Events plans and runs HDRI's workshops, seminars, conferences, and youth exchanges, everything from a small local workshop to a session at the European Parliament.

​

Publications is where our thematic advocacy work lives. It's organised around our five thematic pillars:

• Environment, Climate Change & Energy

• Migration & Security

• Global Health

• Gender Equity

• Economic, Social & Cultural Rights

Within each pillar, the Publications Department produces the research, position papers, reports, and policy content that make up HDRI's advocacy on that issue.

​

Secretariat handles the organisation's internal backbone, governance, membership administration, correspondence, and keeping HDRI's records and processes running smoothly.

​

Communications manages how HDRI shows up publicly: our website, social media, newsletters, and press or partner-facing materials.

​

Volunteers are the backbone of every Department. They're HDRI members who choose to give their time to the Department that matches their interests, contributing to research, event planning, outreach, translation, social media, and more. Most volunteers work remotely alongside members across all 27 EU Member States, joining regular Department meetings and taking on tasks that match their interests and availability.

Volunteering with a Department is often the entry point into HDRI: it's where members first get involved, build skills, and, for many, go on to become Interns, Specialists, or eventually Board members themselves.
