BOARD

The Board is HDRI's governing body. It's the group legally and strategically responsible for the organisation, the people who set our direction, make sure we stay true to our mission, and represent HDRI to the outside world, from EU institutions to our own members.

In practice, that means the Board:

• Sets strategy. Deciding which projects, partnerships, and grant opportunities HDRI pursues each year, and making sure they fit our five thematic pillars (Environment, Climate & Energy; Migration & Security; Global Health; Gender Equity; and Economic, Social & Cultural Rights).

• Holds legal and financial responsibility. As an association loi 1901, HDRI's Board members are the ones who sign off on budgets, grant agreements, and official filings, and who answer for the organisation under French law.

• Represents HDRI externally. Board members are often the face of HDRI in front of institutions like the Council of Europe, the European Youth Foundation, and the European Commission, attending panels, signing partnerships, and speaking on our behalf.

• Oversees the rest of the organisation. The Board doesn't run every project day-to-day, but it makes sure our Departments, Interns, Specialists, and Volunteers have what they need, and that everyone is working toward the same goals.

Board members are elected from within HDRI's membership and serve according to our Statutes and Rules of Procedure. They bring a mix of backgrounds, policy, research, communications, programme management, but all share the same starting point: they were once HDRI members or volunteers themselves before stepping into leadership.
