Brussels, 5–7 October 2026

The Human Development Research Initiative (HDRI) is proud to announce that it has been selected as a subgrantee of the Youth Climate Changemakers Fund, run by Generation Climate Europe (GCE) under the Funding Fairer Futures initiative, for its project “Youth Policy Lab — Bridging Grassroots Resistance and Institutional Reform.”

Funding Fairer Futures is a new initiative dedicated to strengthening the climate movement and transforming it into one that is truly inclusive, enabling everyone, including those in marginalised communities, to actively participate in and shape climate action. GCE leads it in a coalition with Climate Action Network, WECF, Christian Blind Mission Ireland and ECOLISE, and the initiative is co-funded by the European Union. Its Youth Climate Changemakers Fund describes itself as Europe’s largest fund for youth organisations and informal groups, providing financial support and training to build an inclusive climate movement. As part of joining this community, HDRI President Gurgen Petrosyan represented the organisation at the Funding Fairer Futures Training & Capacity Sharing event, held from 5 to 7 October 2026 at Mundo Madou in Brussels. The three-day gathering brought subgrantees together to strengthen practical skills in fundraising, inclusion and strategic communications; to build a connected network through peer-to-peer exchange and intersectional approaches to climate work; and to develop strategies for staying effective in the face of political backlash, instability and disinformation. The programme included training on fundraising and financial management, small-donor fundraising, strategic communications and campaigning, spokesperson training, practical sessions on disability inclusion and ecofeminism, and peer learning and feedback sessions.

Through the Youth Policy Lab, HDRI aims to connect the energy of grassroots climate mobilisation with the tools of institutional advocacy, equipping young people in France, particularly those from communities too often left out of climate spaces, to engage with decision-makers and hold power holders to account.

More information about the Youth Policy Lab, including dates and how to take part, will be shared soon. Stay tuned!
