WE'RE HIRING

Communications Coordinator

Your Words Can Move a Movement

Every policy paper, every campaign, every workshop HDRI runs starts with the same question: will anyone hear about it? That's where you come in.

We're looking for a Communications Coordinator, a storyteller who can turn research into resonance and translate advocacy into action. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to shape how a growing, international, youth-led organization is seen, heard, and understood across Europe and beyond.

If you have an instinct for a good story, a sharp editorial eye, and a genuine belief that communication is a form of advocacy in itself, we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As Communications Coordinator, you will sit at the center of HDRI's public voice, working directly with our leadership team to shape narratives across five thematic pillars: Environment, Climate & Energy; Migration & Security; Global Health; Gender Equity; and Economic, Social & Cultural Rights.

This is not an entry-level task list. It's a chance to build a portfolio of real strategic communications work for an EU-facing civil society organization, with the creative freedom to bring your own ideas to the table.

What You'll Own

  • Strategy — Help design and execute HDRI's communications strategy across every platform and audience we reach.

  • Content — Write and publish press releases, articles, reports, and multimedia pieces that give our work its voice.

  • Digital Presence — Manage and grow our website, social media channels, and newsletter.

  • Media Intelligence — Monitor coverage and trends in our focus areas, spotting opportunities before they pass.

  • Events — Support the planning, promotion, and logistics behind HDRI's workshops, panels, and webinars.

  • Visual Storytelling — Design brochures, posters, graphics, and short-form video content.

  • Relationships — Build and maintain connections with journalists, media contacts, and partner organizations.

  • Impact Tracking — Monitor communications metrics and turn data into better decisions.

What We're Looking For

Education

Currently studying or holding a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, content creation, or social media strategy — professional or volunteer.

  • Prior involvement with nonprofit, youth-led, or international organizations is a strong asset.

Skills & Qualities

  • Excellent written English, with strong editorial judgment (French or additional languages a plus).

  • Working knowledge of communications tools such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, Trello, or Wix.

  • A creative thinker who is equally comfortable with structure, deadlines, and shifting priorities.

  • A genuine, demonstrated commitment to inclusive, justice-driven communication.

Why This Role Is Worth Your Time

  • Lead With Purpose. Take ownership of the voice of an international, youth-led organization working at the intersection of research and real-world change.

  • Build Real Experience. Develop a professional portfolio in strategic communications, digital advocacy, and cross-cultural collaboration, the kind of experience that opens doors.

  • Belong to Something Bigger. Work alongside a network of young researchers, professionals, and advocates across Europe, united by a shared commitment to human development and social justice.

Ready to Make Your Mark?

We'd love to see how you think and how you tell a story. Please send us:
